FAQ

WHAT IS YOUR TRANSFER DAY?

We offer Saturday arrival & departure dates.

WHAT IS YOUR SMOKING & PET POLICY?

La Maison de Saucisse is a no-smoking & pet free home.

CAN I TRAVEL TO THE RESORT BY TRAIN?

Eurostar run a snow train from London and Ashford directly to Moutiers (the town at the bottom of the mountain), taking this option often means an extra days skiing!  There are plenty of buses that run from Moutiers to St Martin de Belleville on a regular basis. This option requires organising a daily transfer (or walk to the lifts).  Please ask if you'd like a local taxi number.

WHICH IS THE NEAREST AIRPORT?

If you would prefer to fly the closest airport is Chambery at approximately 1 hours drive away.  Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva Airports are all approximately 2 hours drive.  Easyjet, Flybe, Swiss, Jet2, Monarch, BMI and many other budget airliines fly to these airports regularly.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DRIVE TO THE CHALET FROM THE UK?

Driving to the 3 Valleys from the UK is a straightforward and easy journey.  La Maison de Saucisse is approximately a 9 hour drive from Calais.  We can provide driving directions from the UK or from the Airports if required.

WHICH TRANSFER COMPANIES WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?

We would recommend checking Kayak for good value car hire and the following companies for transfers: Mountainexpress, Coolrunnings, 3 Valley Transfers, Sky2ski, Snowlinx, Snow White Transfers.

There are coach options from the airports as well, but you will need to change at Moutiers: Bensbus or Altibus offer a good range.

HOW EASY IS IT TO TRAVEL BETWEEN RESORTS?

Within the valley there is a free shuttle service running between St Martin, Les Menuires & Val Thorens around 5 times a day.  Transfers to other 3 Valley resorts (Meribel & Courchevel for example) are only possible by private transfer.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS?

The immediate local area offers something for everyone; walking & hiking, mountain biking, road biking, via ferrata, canyoning, rafting, fishing, archery, art & craft workshops, horse riding, traditional alpine farm visits, mountain spas, cookery lessons at the restaurant "La Bouitte" (2 stars in the Michelin Guide)...and many more things!  In the wider Savoie & Haute-Savoie regions there are many lovely places to visit. Our favourites include Annecy & Aix les Bains (both next to lakes), plus market day in Moutiers for some fantastic fresh produce (Tuesdays).
